The only reason i choose to use the word "Federal Funded" , is because many would advocate , If a buisness get funds from the government, it should at least try to help the citizens of that country(in all possible ways). Please do not confuse it with investments in a company done by people(eg buying shares) , expecting profits out of the investments..

If the question is profitability and competitive advantage for my personal business, and its good to outsource, then how is not good for the business funded by tax payer dollars. If I want to invest in a profitable company, would it make sense to invest in a company managed by 300 million Directors, all, at the same time, making decision for how to run a better business, and the politics guiding the business than profitability? GM is doomed, not because it has bad products, but now it has even worst management (of 300 million directors) compared to the management it had before receiving federal funding.
How in the world is it ok for Grassley to wear an underwear that is made in china, but if others would buy underwear made in china, then they should commit suicide because others must follow Japanese standards.

I do not know why people want to complicate things from their side. This is one time opportunity for hundreds of thousands of people.
Do not move until your FP is complete or wait till atleast you get the receipt number.

Yes one can very well say that NO, I do not want to move. But again one may have to be ready to face the music if other project oppertunity can not be worked out by the employer in a reasonable time period of next 4 months. It can happen. And in that kind of scenario, employer would not keep you much longer on the bench.And most of teh H1 people, realizing this fact shows the readiness to move.

Though a bill to provide DL to legal temporary residents has been passed by both houses of Michigan legislature and signed into law by you, the benefits of the new law are being denied to our community due to inordinate delays by Secretary of State in issuing new rules to comply with the law. Its surprising that Ms. Lynn Land who showed an undue haste in implementing the denial rule has not come up with a new one even after a full month of change in law.
This delay by SOS continues to deny driving licenses to legal and lawfully admitted immigrants is creating a hard situation for us. Thousands of immigrants like me who are engineers, vehicle designers, professors, doctors, and international students in Michigan universities are affected. It's impossible for many of us to commute to work, or to school. Many highly-skilled immigrants will be forced to leave the state, and universities will have a tough time in attracting international students.
Our state has already lost 30,000 residents to recession. It can ill-afford to lose thousands more at a time when the recession is worsening. Scarcity of highly-skilled workers will discourage high-tech companies from moving their jobs to Michigan. This will definitely impact the state's initiative to attract high-tech companies to open their offices here. Also, sale of homes by several thousand immigrants will lower the home prices further. This will adversely affect the real-estate industry reeling under sub-prime crisis.

After 9 years of being in the US and after years of waiting for the GC processing, the quest for GC finally ended today with the approval of I-485 and the welcome email from USCIS. It is an overwhelming feeling which puts an end to the saga of constant worrying about what will happen to my GC and whether I�ll have to leave US if the GC didn�t work out for whatever reason. I have personally known several friends who had to leave to Canada after the unsuccessful bid for GC here and that experience didn�t make this journey any easier.
I just want to thank all IV members (and immigrationportal members before IV) who have provided invaluable suggestions and help during this long, difficult, and sometimes depressing journey and I wish you all the best for those who are still in the process.

Thanks Papu, I am trying to put together missouri state chapter...I don't know when fellow men will realize instead doing some guess work (ranting in the forum) actually take some kinda of constructive effort for real solution.
Its real sad to see only few people responding to state chapters. I recommend to keep insisting on importance of state chapters. unless we have grassroot level support we won't see a real solution.

Are you sure your lawyer did not make any mistake and requested only a 1 year EAD. Did you read all your forms he sent?
Unless you ask for a 1 year EAD or do not send all information needed in the form, they will issue a 1 year EAD only.
Did you also met this conditions
- Pending I-485 Application (Quote Receipt No)
- Approved I-140 (Receipt No)
- Priority Date Retrogression (Country of Chargeability and EB category - quote latest Visa Bulletin dates)

I got 1 year H1B approval on Nov 2010, that expires on Nov 2011. This is my first H1B. I went to Canada on March 30 2011 to get H1B stamped. I went with 2 other friends/colleges from same employer and working at same client. We all went to different immigration officers. These 2 friends were asked to submit there passports while I was given a "NOTICE OF SUSPENSION, 221G, RETURNED TO USCIS FOR RECONSIDERATION" and my passport was returned. My 2 friends are stuck in Canada while I came back to my Home Country. The NOTICE Mentions that the petition xxx contains inaccurate information and we are returning to USCIS for review and possible revocation.
I asked my employer and his attorney regarding this, they said they have to wait until USCIS comes back to them.
I heard that this process might take a very long time. I am in a confused state of mind. I don't know what to do next.
My client has assured that whenever I come back to US he will have a project ready for me.
So I was thinking of coming back to US with Student VISA. I have a valid F1 visa until May of 2012. So I can come back and join a University that gives me full time CPT from day 1 and I can work for same client.
Other option was to come on F1 and file for new H1B with some other firm.
Please help me. I really really appreciate!!

I guess we need to except more of this in the years to come.
I called the USCIS this morning for my receipt numbers, USCIS person said we have lot of applications,you have to wait 3 months to get receipt notice since you applied. My application sent to the Lawyer June 1st, The stupid Lawer took 19 days to read my application, lawyer sent my application on june 19th.

This is a very serious and important issue. Many indians may decide to go back in a few years and it is your money parked in the ss fund. We should start a movement to resolev this issue.

It states that if you have filed just the 485 for the first time using the new fees and then plan to file 765 and 131 you don't have to send the fees again. But its not true with the renewals, i think so, may be worng.
The new application fee for an I-485 is a package fee that includes associated EAD and AP applications.
If you applied using the old fee you are not forced to file EAD and/or AP, now you will need those for a loooong, looong time.
