All these are relative calculations. Who the hell in the world asked any firm to calculate the millionaries in terms of dollars. You have to check PPP. What a dollar could do in US could not do anything in Europe/UK. But you can get to eat three times in India for a dollar. You can do two haircuts for a dollar and more...
With the above, India has many millionaries. Also if rupee strengthens and dollar weakens( which is not likely now), India will have billion millionaires.
Who said that 1 crore is middle class in India ???

The World Wealth Report, released by Merrill Lynch and Capgemini, says India had 83,000 millionaires (people with more than $1 million or Rs 4.5 crore in net financial assets, excluding their residence and consumables).
The rate at which India is producing rich people is hardly surprising, says the report. Worldwide, the number of millionaires swelled by half a million in 2005 and there were 8.7 million of them, more than New York's population.
On the top of the charts is the US with a millionaire population of 2.67 million, nearly a third of the global millionaire population. Germany, the UK, China, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Russia, among others, each have more than 100,000 millionaires

I think there are many ways to look at it. Doing Free service , yes it is a form of Gandhigiri, but will that cause the lawmakers to recognize us and pass laws in favor o fus..I do not think so.
I think our situation is no different than people in South Africa in Gandhian times. How Gandhi fought for them is by writing and writing and pestering the Authorities to reduce unfair taxes on Indians in SA and to solve other problems they had like cannot ride in the same Trains/cars as Whites etc...., fighting for their rights in a Vocal but Non Voilent - non aggressive approach.
We, in this post , have equated Gandhigiri with - divide ur attention - Go Do MBA- be occupied with something else while u are retrogressed, furthur ur career/skills,,,etc I do not think that is what Gandhigiri is about i.e. doing something for the self, but instead do it for the community. In this case IV is our community and its leaders are doing the right thing for our cause and if we continue to support that by adding members, funds we will do a fair bit of gandhigiri towards our cause.

I missed the july fiasco by 15 days. Atleast if we get the administrative fix to apply atleast 485. That would help us a lot, after labor if we are allowed to apply for 485 within a specific timeframe it would be nice.

Are you insane ? Just because we don't see what IV core/other members contribute behind the scenes, doesn't mean that we should change the IV core. I was a quite member for a while and saw, what IV was able to accomplish during the July 2007 fiasco.
Yeah , i can understand the frustration, we have not seen anything beyond the July 2007 filing. How many of you've taken out on the streets, went to your senator and congress.
We are such a minority in eyes of congress/senate, that they dont care about us.
If you've any better means to do something effective, by all means create some other organization. I don't necessarily agree with what IV pushes for all the time, but so what , they are doing something atleast.
Still, if you think you've an idea or something that can cause a real impact, share it here and i'm sure IV will accommodate you. I would be happy to see the end of this legal immigration red-tape and see the end of IV for a good cause. IV core are ppl just like us, if you want to devote more time, by all means ask IV and they will include you.
Ultimately, we all care about getting the job done. End to this insane wait and red-tape.

GCTest and et al if you have really raised 600 $ talk to good lawyer to sure the hell out of USCIS for its un accountability. This EB3 - EB3 rift is not going to help anyone but only USCIS. Take a chill pill and think carefully who has screwed us most -- IT IS USCIS. If you sue USCIS for unaccountability, changing rules at will and worst of all racial discrimination or new term for country based discrimination -- it is history waiting to happen.
There is no value or point in creating Eb3 - Eb2 rift. No category is better than either - all are equally and royally screwed by USCIS.

I got the e-mail today as well. My PD is Sep 2005 and my I-485 receipt date was Sep 30, 2005.
Couple of people I know got their approvals with PDs of 2004 and 2005 in EB2 and EB3.. Hopefully dates will look better in october visa bulletin.

Has anybody called the USCIS customer service number regarding AP ?
If we have a emergency reason to travel out of the country, can we call the customer service and request expedited processing of AP ?
One my friends got his wife's AP approved by scheduling an appointment with local InfoPass office. but you need a valid reason and proof for that. In his case he got his father in law's medical certificate from India.
