Perry Bacon, Jr. writes in today's Washington Post that the President seems to be more interested in blaming the Republicans for his inability to deliver on immigration rather than actually making a serious effort to fix the problems. To President Obama - you've shown you're a serious bad @$S with your historic capture of the world's most wanted man. No one seriously believes you're helpless if you really consider something a priority.

If her H-4 has not expired she can file now for a change of status from H-4 to H-1, as per the last action rule, her petition filed now will override the earlier request for H-4 extension. If she does not have an unexpired H-4 she can file for COS based on the pending H-4 extension request by including the receipt.

i485 rfe for my wife. Please help
My wife received an rfe for the things listed below. I think she got it because her finger prints are not machine readable and FBI have not been able to verify it....
1) Submit true certfied copies of any and all arresting officers reports....blah blah blah
2) Other: Local police clearance Letter from every place you have lived in united states
My wife has been in US close to five years and lived in 2 cities
MY question is
for 1) she has never violated any law so does not have court disposition or anything of that sort so does she need
anything for this?
for 2) She has resided in 2 cities but also stayed in India for 4 months.
The rfe clearly says "for every place lived in united states"
so I would think she does not need a police clearance certificate
from India

One of the comments on my post earlier today about the killed Border Patrol agent seemed pretty harsh - accusing most BP agents of being restrictionists with bad motives. I still think that's harsh and most Border Patrol agents are honestly out to do the necessary job of protecting our country's borders. But the timing of a major scandal involving Customs and Border Patrol certainly will make many people question just who the agency is hiring. Here's my experience. I only have original receipt notice for H1 extension. Local offices in Jersey City and Bayonne wouldn't renew driving license. I went to Trenton. There the supervisor's name is Jewel. She checked their TVR book and that says H1 extension receipt notice is enough for 8 months renewal. She helped me with that and said she would tell their bosses about the local offices.

Though I have started only one theread in last three years of my membership, I can't resist a temptation to start one now. From the following article in WSJ the lame duck session now appears certain and it is going to be in this month !!!!!!!!!!!!
The link does not require user ID and passowrd. I am late on sending my e-mails on housing crisis and emplyment based green cards. But I am going to do it right now. I urge all the members to do the same. Though I am not sure whther they will take up HR 5882 or any other relief language, no harm in hoping and praying.

The Congressional Hispanic Caucus has sent a letter to the President asking him to terminate the controversial 287(g) program that allows local police to enforce immigration laws on behalf of the Department of Homeland Security. The CHC expressed its concerns about allegations of serious civil rights violations against Hispanics as well as recent reports of poor oversight in the program. The National Council of La Raza, the country's largest Latino civil rights organization praised the letter.

My lawyer received an RFE on my EB3/RIR labor cert on priority date 01/26/04In Feb sometime and responded back exactly on the last day (03/01/07) it was due. I have not heard anything back from DBEC since then. Anyone here have any idea how much time they take to approve the labor after RFE is responded back, if at all they do approve it? I know couple of my friends in CA who got their labor approved within a month after their RFE was responded back. My labor was filed from WI.
Please post your experiences if anyone experienced this before. The RFE was about company's financial document. I am not worried about the financial status of the company as it is doing pretty good from last 3-4 years consistently.
