Any advantage of opening an account on USCIS website to receive automatic case status updates? or I don't need to do that if I keep checking the status online by myself?
They send you and email if something changes, nice if you have a Blackberry/pda
If you have multiple cases i-129, i-131, i-140, i-485 you can see them all on one page, I find that easier to see LUDs in particular the "soft" non-action ones, but it's nice to know the file was touched.

On November 27, 2009, the USCIS announced that 58,900 of 65,000 regular cap petitions have been received. In addition, approximately 20,000 U.S. Master's or higher petitions (i.e. advanced degree petitions) have been received. Any advanced degree petitions received from here...
On November 27, 2009, the USCIS announced that 58,900 of 65,000 regular cap petitions have been received. In addition, approximately 20,000 U.S. Master's or higher petitions (i.e. advanced degree petitions) have been received. Any advanced degree petitions received from here on out will count toward the regular cap of 65,000. The USCIS is still accepting petitions at this time, but it is advised that any H-1B petitions be filed as soon as possible as the USCIS could announce that the cap is closed at any time.

The Arizona Republic reports that US bid to host the 2018 World Cup may be jeopardized by plans to include the University of Phoenix Stadium as one of the venues. I got H1 in 2008.
I want to that till how much time is the petition valid , if I dont go for stamping.
Also , suppose my company withdraws the petition, so now till how much duration my cap number is valid?
Expiration date will be mentioned on I-797 approval notice
you will be counted only once against cap. and you can be on H1/L1 for total of 6 years (without a break) - ofcourse assumption is that you never file for a GC

Hi,
My husband is on H1-B, and it expires on Feb 4th 2007. We plan to go to India, leaving the U.S. on Feb 11th 2007. His current I-94 expires on Feb 4th 2007.
We have our I-140 and 485 filed in parallel. He has received his EAD and Advanced Parole.
His lawyer wants to apply for H1-B but not use premium processing, as he can re-enter the U.S. using Advanced Parole.
Now, our concerns are these:
1. If he leaves the U.S. AFTER the expiration of his current I-94 WITHOUT having a new I-797, can it look as if he overstayed?
2. If he re-enters the U.S. using the Advanced Parole, will that change his status so that he is now considered to be on immigrant(EAD) rather than non-immigrant (H1-B) status?
Basically, we want to insist on premium processing and go for the H1-B visa stamp while in India to be sure that he does not go out of status.
Any advice on this?

I just checked that Nebraska is now processing cases from August 2007 for I 140 applications. Do these also indicate China and India?
My pd for I 140 is in July, and I am from india. Should I be able to make a query since the dates have gone past my PD?

Hi All,
I just gave my fingerprints today. I got a match warning for almost all my fingers. I dont remember giving all my finger prints to USCIS at any point of time.. At the max, I would have given thumb and index finger when i travelled.. does this mean i am in trouble?

I am paranoid about losing my GC with me since I have on more than one occasion left misplaced my wallet, or left it at a restaurant, friends place, etc. Thankfully it has been returned to me with all contents intact and untouched every time. I do know that my luck will eventually run out so my question is this. Can I carry a photocopy of my GC instead and probably leave the original locked up in a firesafe at home? (I do not live in AZ, BTW)
