Don't forget the education is the biggest business in U.S.A and the immigration is the second one, thats what I learned from my 5 years experience. Both businesses dragging money from foreign ppl (International student has to pay 3-4 times more than local).

My Certified Mail to Ombudsman was actually delivered at DC on Sep 2nd 7:52 AM. Today is Sep 16th , so far no reply.
Will keep you updated if anything happens to my 140 - Anyone else need any help sending 7001 to Ombudsman ?

All this May 15th/21 date is open to interepretation there is no set concrete laws yet.I just filed I-140 and I-1485 on the 1 st June and my attorney told me just go and wait now and live your life.We can worry about stupid laws that MIGHT go into affect a yr or never and destroy your precious time.
In the meantime go to NUMBERSUSA website and send as many faxs against this CIR bill and get it shutdown.

yabadaba, we will always have tough opposition when we try to do something. Your op-ed was very good and some people could not swallow it. You know some people can't imagine anyone from your country having good english! All these media efforts help us raise awareness, send our message across to the masses to counter anti immigrant propaganda. Due to our press coverage lawmaker offices too have started to take us seriously. Thanks to you and other IV members that are constantly helping this organization in media efforts, whether it is as small as writing emails, getting interviewed or writing articles. Senator Specter seems to emphasize that he would like to get done with amendments etc. and to make sure that he meets Bill Frist's deadline of March 27th so that it can be debated
Senator Brownback is bringing an amendment to extend J1 visa which apparently expires this year
Will keep on updating as and when I hear things
No visa cap for nurses/physical therapist esp for India, China and Phillipines
Apparently the quorum is not present at the committee to vote on the amendments, but senator Specter is stating whether he will support the amendment or not.

Called them 3 times and everytime the same answer "pending and processing."
Unfortunately my uncle passed away yesteray and I have to travel for the funeral processings. Called USCIS just now and told them to expedite the case. CSR took all the information and told that someone will contact me within 5 business days about case. Hoepfully someone calls/emails and approves my case.
Just wanted to share my experience.

Age Out Issue for filing I-485: Gurus, please advise me on the age out issue of my son.
(1) Dates & Calculations effecting filing I_485: Here are the dates and the calculations I did which result in effective age of �21 yrs + 1 month + 1 day� thus making it Age-out issue for filing for I-485 for my son.
(A) Priority date : Nov, 2005
(B) I-140 receipt : 2/22/2006 I-140 approval : 3/22/2006
(C) I-140 pending period : One month (too fast where it was not a help!)
(I-140 was approved in my son�s 20th year � however, I learned that it is not of any help for filing his I-485)
(D) Applied for I-485 (for rest of family � not for son) (Thanks to IV) : First week of July 2007
(E) DOB of son : 3/30/1986
(F) Currant age : 21 yrs + 4 months (Currently on F1 and doing his under grad in US)
(G) Date to be considered for determining the age for filing I-485 : 6/1/2007
(since the monthly bulletin is released on 6/12/2007)
(H) Age as on above date (6/1/2007) : 21 yrs + 2 month + 1 day
(I) Benefit from CSPA :(I-140) pending days (C) : 1 month
(J) Effective age for filing I-485 during current window : (H) � (J) : 21 yrs + 1 month + 1 day
(2) Since, he aged out for filing for I-485 (also based on attorney�s calculation), his papers were not included and only papers for rest of the family were filed in July, 2007. Friends, is there any other interpretation of CSPA � which could be helpful in this scenario?
(3) Other Particulars (which could potentially offer any other solution / advice): I am from India and in US from sep 1998 (change of employer forced me to restart my GC process) and my son entered USA in Oct 1999 at his 13 � yrs and stayed continuously & studied in USA from 9th standard. Currently, he is in final yr of under graduate study and is on F1 visa from March 2007 (after completing 21 yrs) paying high (2.5 times the instate fee) international student fee.
(4) Can I do any thing in the current window when dates are current (until 8/17/07): Friends, if there is any way of filing his I-485, it will be of great help � since he could continue his graduate study at reasonable cost (at instate tuition fee). Are there any other options in this situation? Is there any possibility of I-485 getting receipted (if filed) � since he is supposed to have his PD frozen for his application for family based I-485 at parent�s PD (if applied with in one year of parent�s I-485?) (I am referring to a clause in CSPA � which states that the application will automatically be converted to family based I-485 if applied with in one year � Of course, these dates are not current now).
(5) I am not aware of how many others are affected with age-out issue in EB based cases. Can we come together through IV and identify potential action items? Can IV and immigration community help in addressing the age-out issue in bills proposed to be introduced (like DREAM / SKILL etc�) now on� (Particularly since the percentage of affected people may be very low with less voice that could be heard). I am thankful to IV & the core team for their extraordinary efforts and shall be contributing my part shortly.

SO,can we all try to get the unused visas recaptured.If they can do that for nurses and physical therapists ,they can do that to decrease retrogression.I dont think they require senate approval.

I checked the online status of our 485 application after long time..i totally lost hope on our 485 applications that USCIS ever bothered to work on them..but strange thing is i have noticed a soft LUD on my wifes case..this gives me some hope..:D

Made another $100 contribution today. I hope that all members now realize that IV is doing a great job of addressing our issues and finally coming up with some results. This is just the beginning and the member contribution will determine how much more IV can accomplish. If we all don't join forces and contribute one way or the other, 8 or 10 core members alone can't do much.
Membership and their contribution is the real strength of core team and if either one of those dries up, IV will no longer exist and all EB folks will once again become the step child of immigration process and no one will care about us. We have a voice now through IV, people know that we exist and realize the legal immigration process is badly broken and needs repair. Government and politicians have taken notice and agree that there is a problem with legal immigration. This is very significant. If we would like to continue this fight, contribution is a must.
For those who are still hesitating to contribute, there is always that F5 (refresh) key which you can keep pressing and hope that some how pressing that F5 key enough times will result in some relief. You folks have more faith on that F5 key than IV and I wish you good luck with your green card process. Once you do get your green card, please let us know how many times did you have to press that key to get a green card. That will set the bar for the future generation of EB applicants.

guys! who have those documents/letters being sent can you have a scanned copy of these documents/letters so that others can just download them and attach them with their email instead of cut copy paste and format. May be the administrators can have file/document section some where on the site so that people can grab the documents and send out to whoever they want to
