I have always been a passive reader of this post and multiple other similar posts. It helped me a lot and I thought sharing my positive porting experience will help/encourage others. Below are details of my long journey
1. Initial labor
a. Filed - July 8 2003 (no masters, no 5 years, Title: Systems Analyst)
b. Approved - August 31 2006
2. EB3 I140 (NSC)
a. Filed - October 11 2006
b. Approved - April 6 2007
3. I485 (NSC)
a. Filed - July 19 2007
b. RFE - April 2009 (Birth Certificate related for me and Medical related for my wife)
4. Perm
a. Same company. By 2011, I was promoted multiple times and currently managing multiple projects. Every H1b that was approved after 2003 clearly showed the growth and the promotion on the job title and salary.
b. Filed - Feb 9 2011 (Progressive growth within the same company, Title: Project Director)
c. Approved - Feb 15 2011
5. EB2 I140 (TSC)
a. Filed - March 9 2011, Premium Processing
b. Approved - March 21 2011 (A# and Priority Date retained)
6. Interfiling
a. March 24 2011 - Created a SR requesting the process I485 using the new EB2 140
b. March 29 2011 - Lawyer sent the official Interfile Request
c. April 5 2011 - Contacted both the senators and congressman. They were very prompt in responding back. Also sent emails to NSCFollowup and EBUpdate.
d. April 7 2011 - Went for an Infopass Appointment (Useless in my opinion)
e. April 14 2011 - Got the magic email at 9:15pm for both me and my wife. One of the happiest days in my life.
f. Waiting on the physical cards to take a long break :)

One last question, if you don't mind.
I assume yours is a conventional loan, how much equity do you have on your home, and how much down payment did you make on your home purchase first time?
I didn't pay any points. I locked in two weeks back and closed this week. Lender is a local bank in Mass.

Did any of you guys read the USCIS ombudsman report in detail. It talks about FBI namechecks in some detail and specifically mentions that the namechecks are less detailed than what USCIS already does through it's available databases. In fact the FBI checks fewer things than what the USCIS already checks and so the ombudsman believes that the FBI name check is a waste of time and should be done away with.
Nevertheless USCIS still keeps the FBI name check and I believe that is for purely political reasons where they can conveniently pass the buck if something untoward happens.
Therefore harping on the FBI namecheck issue for the weekend processing may not be a good idea.

mmm...didnt knew about this..After living and working here for ten years, i am still in-eligible for the tax rebate...phew!!!! (filed jointly, no SSN for my wife)..maybe i will claim it all next year....I am eternally optimistic :-)

hi i have come to the u.s. on a f2 visa and currently my spouse is doing her OPT.i applied for a driving licence in georgia and i was issued a learners permit based on my I94,visa and letter from social security office denying me a ssn.
i went to the same centre(decatur) for a road test and now they say that we cannot give you a licence because your visa says dependent for a student of wisconsin university,so you should go to wisconsin and get your licence.i went to another dmv centre and after verifying my docs. they let me take the road test and i cleared the test and they asked me to go to the counter to pay money , at that time the person in the counter again asked me for passpoert and i94 and he saw that university of wisconsin stuff on my visa and he said he will not issue a licence and i spoke to the supervisor and he says get a letter from INS ,i showed him my spouse opt card and showed him the words in the card which reads"eligible to work in u.s. upto ----").now he says that is your spouse opt card ,what autorisation do you have to stay in GA ?

Looks like they are changing the spillover rules again from Horizontal to Vertical this is bad news for EB2 I
Because the spillover projection is given only for EB2(China and India). This is due to fact that only EB2-Row is current due to which there is a possbility of spillover which flows to China and India and not to EB3-Row(if it was vertical).

Sorry about the pain. if you haven't noticed, I think aftr your previous employer revoked the I-140, they went ahead and updated that to 'denied' status and apparently the date did not change. so the same day that your 140 was approved now shows as denied. Bring that to their notice and they may see their mistake.

Manipulating such data is a crime and it is seriuos security breach of the system and if the agency is manipulating backend data - it is a serious issue.

Based on the massive level of AC21 denials when employer revokes 140 - we are not sure what is going on.

I am hoping this is not a typo from the mumbai consulate and USCIS visa bulletin will reflect the same.
My priority date is April 06. Does this mean that there is a chance for me to get the GC now?
How much time does it usually take for USCIS to approve the application after the priority date is current in the bulletin?
And lastly, what are the chances of USCIS staying on this date for EB2-I and not retrogressing it back to some old date (after it issues 1 yr EAD to everyone !!)?

I know I might get bashed over this - but I don't see the so called "freeloaders" like me to be worthless as donors often tend to accuse.
In the past, I have doled out valuable information.... and have taken pains to scan my RFE and post it with detailed explanations etc for the benefit of the community. I have replied to people to the best of my knowledge and participated in numerous mailing campaigns. While those efforts may not be even close to what others have done here, I do believe that donations should be just that 'donations' and not turn that into a 'membership'.
Already I see people asking for exceptions "I have done xyz so I should get free access etc". I'm with that other 'donor' who said that we have enough divisions in our community already.
Keep in mind that by giving such an incentive to pay, you are also giving a disincentive for people to participate and share their data and their valuable experiences (thats not freeloading!).

3 reasons:
1. The work - when I came here the work I was interested in wasnt being done back home.
2. The work culture - working under most desi managers is a pain in the backside and really stifling for me.
3. Continuity - set up life here, got married, had my son. Its hard to just pull the plug and walk back.
GC is just the means, not the end.

My friend, "USA point of view is multinational executives can potentially create jobs", but the reality is the other way round. They are here to to make the transition happen from Onshore to Offshore. I have complete knowledge on how this EB1 thing works , as I was one of them once upon a time before taking up my current job.
