    All,

Do not despair yet. We were repeatedly told that bills take a lot of time to pass. Never the less we'll keep working on this bill and this also precisely why we're not pinning all of our hopes on only the Comprehensive Immigration Bill. We also have the PACE bill and the TALENT bill, which can bring a lot of relief to us.

    people,

i just returned from an infopass meeting... the guy i talked to said that they recently have a directive from the DHS/USCIS that they want to separate the legal stuff from the illegal stuff and hence they are planning to adjudicate a record number of EB apps in the next quarter or two... does anyone else concur? is this true or were my ears just ringing in that meeting?

    --shark

So, did anyone else hear anything similar? i am VERY excited about this... but dont know anything about what to make of it... maybe he was just saying it because my face looked tense?????? ha ha ha... no seriously, i dont know what to make of him and his information...

    Chi_shark
One of my co-worker had a info-pass this friday and the IO told him similar comments to the one which you heard....not sure what to infer out of these comments......

This is becoming like a person who buys lottery regularly. Then every time before the results are going to come out, starts dreaming and then gets disappointed as his number is not drawn.

Stop dreaming! This is not a lottery. Please contribute to FOIA and lets find the real numbers.

I thought if we dont get the EAD after 90 days, we can walk into the US Embassy in the city nearer to us and get the EAD on the spot(more like a driver's license).

    Guys,
The calculations below is not to scare anyone but it may very well a reality. Based on the assumptions below, some people may have to wait up to 20 months to get a EAD card: Ouch!

    A Total I-485 Applicants: 750000 Applicants
B Each EAD processing time: 5 Minutes
C Total processing hrs: 62500 Hours
    (Calculations: AxB/60)
D Daily productive Hours: 5 Hours
    (It is a government body!)
E Total Man Days (Business Days): 12500 Man Days
    (Calculations: C/D)
    F EAD Workforce: 30 People
G Total Business Days: 417 Days
    (Calculations: E/F)
H Average Business Days in a month: 21 Days
    I Total Clearing Time : 20 Months
    (Calculations: G/I)

Here's my estimate regarding the expected I-485 filings for July 2007 based on the approved LC petition data provided by DOL. See link below (Thanks ! DreamGC)

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pPp-1fPOWrpRSbOSVaat9ew

LC Approvals (Expected 485 filings in July 2007)

2007: 50000(50000) Estimated since data unavailabe
    2006: 79782 (79782)
    2005: 6133 (6133)
    2004: 43582 (34866) 80% will file in July, 20% filed earlier
2003: 62912 (31456) 50% will file in July. The rest filed earlier.
2002: 79784 (Nil) Since more than 95% would have filed 485 earlier.

I am ignoring anything before 2002.

If you add up the numbers in parentheses the total is 202,236 - primary applicants. Assuming an average family size of 2 gives us 404,472 give or take 10%

I would say 80% of the 400k people may apply for EAD - that still makes it 320k EADs - the others may not want EAD right away or could be kids less than 14 years old.

I have home loan with Standard Chartered. Got the variable interest loan from them in 2004. One thing I liked is I did not have to goto India for the loan processing!

My brother sent related documents here in US and I signed, got few of those notarised and sent them back. It took about a month for the complete process.

They do charge about Rs. 350 for prepayment though. Otherwise overall I am happy with the service they provided.

I agree GC makes a difference. If anyone as EAD thats as good as GC subject to your primany job not changing. So why not do side -business on EAD while your primary job is ON. Take it easy at job, dont overwork because without GC rarely people get promoted, if they are not extra-ordinary!

Going to XYZ place because of no GC does not make sense. If you have potential you can use it here on EAD not necessarily in another country!

If u take it easy at ur job in today's date..u may get fired and lose ur side business as well. Remember, your primary job is the reason why u have the EAD and and are able to setup a side business. The Primary job according to me will always need to get its due importance.

There is no question that GC makes a difference in life. However, its upto each one of us how much importance we give to it. My personal opinion, I will keep fighting for it and contribute to the fight against the broken process whenever I can..but I will not stop my life because of GC, example, buy a house, travel around, give my wife an opportunity to excel in her job (since i cannot take promotions until GC).....all these are difficult without GC, but not impossible.

Everyone will and should have their own way of dealing with the situation we have...

Here is the link to USCIS AC21 memo from 5/30/2008:
    http://www.visalawyerblog.com/AC21%20MEMO%20JUNE%202008.pdf

it does say that H1B ext beyond 6 years can not be granted if there is not underlying pending process for GC (LC, 140 or 485).

However it does not talk about 'what happens if an ext is already granted'? so it still remains gray area. did I understand correctly?

This bill is purely on the theory of Common man vs politician
    What is a politician?
Politician is a contaminated breed of Human species. Here's the difference.

When a common man see the problem, he tries to make a resolution and tries to make a permanent solution helping everyone.

Now what does a politician do.. he see a problem and think how can he pretend to get a resolution while trying to make use of the problem for his political advantage hurting everyone and even hurting who were not effected by that problem and then use the same cycle to resolve the residual problems of the so called "solution" for his gains.. and this goes on and on and on.

Moreover the worst part of the story is no matter where you go in this world, you will find this weed growing everywhere and there is no weed control chemicals to kill them and surprisingly common man is a fertilizer to grow it.

if the orignial post on this thread is really true, then eb2/eb3 india/china with p.d. older newer than 2002 should basically pack whatever they have so far and leave... is that a fair reading? does anyone care to ammend my statement to perhaps "newer than 2003 [or 2005]"?

At least this clears up any hopes from future Visa Bulletins. What's next?
