Mr. Aytes talked about procedural changes that they undertook which moved them away from First in, first out. They are now approving petitions (not just adjustments -485's) which would have an opportunity to immigrate sooner, like a person from ROW.

hi i have come to the u.s. on a f2 visa and currently my spouse is doing her OPT.i applied for a driving licence in georgia and i was issued a learners permit based on my I94,visa and letter from social security office denying me a ssn.
i went to the same centre(decatur) for a road test and now they say that we cannot give you a licence because your visa says dependent for a student of wisconsin university,so you should go to wisconsin and get your licence.i went to another dmv centre and after verifying my docs. they let me take the road test and i cleared the test and they asked me to go to the counter to pay money , at that time the person in the counter again asked me for passpoert and i94 and he saw that university of wisconsin stuff on my visa and he said he will not issue a licence and i spoke to the supervisor and he says get a letter from INS ,i showed him my spouse opt card and showed him the words in the card which reads"eligible to work in u.s. upto ----").now he says that is your spouse opt card ,what autorisation do you have to stay in GA ?
has any one come across such a problem?is so kindly advice

Thank you very much for your excellent coverage of this issue. Tens of thousands of legal immigrants were affected by this decision, and at least hundreds of dollars wasted by every applicant. The loss of opportunity because of this abrupt door-shutting act is of course much more, but we demand that at least these monetary damages are taken note of, and paid for. Ideally, the government agencies that slammed the door on us should accept our applications, and thereby keep the promise they made to us on June 13, 2007.

I am not sure you understand the concept of an organization offering 'services' to its members. X man hours to produce ? what are you talking about ?
My friend it is not just 'information'. Information is money. All you are talking about is 'forums/discussion boards'. I have mentioned this before as well. IV is more than a discussion board and you can make no comparison to other tracker websites.

Usually, a non-for-proft org has a fund raiser or a money raiser drive or event.

I never give any red or green dot to anybody nor do I care what I have. As, you said what you felt was right, other users did the same to you...
I got red dots, just because I raised my concerns against factual errors in the letter. I have never mentioned that I am against sending letters. Just that emotional outburst is not going to help EB-3 India applicants.

Let's get this straight, We don't know each other, outside this website I see you as my competitor. Tomorrow you and I could compete for the same job right? Now add in the fact, that by crude luck you get your Green Card in 10 months and I get it in 10 years, how do you think that it is fair on my part?

We applied in Nebraska in August 2003, Cleared in State on August 29th 2003, Transferred to Chicago DOL on Sept 1st 2003..Got Certfied on Oct 16th 2003...So yes..in some states Labor was VERY Quick.

For the first time one article connects our needs to what Americans are interested in; Homeland security.
Guys, not to say that they should approve cases without background check but are you sure this will not turn against us if they associate USCIS being efficient (approving cases faster) with them taking shortcuts and give GC to people who are a threat ??
Everybody here wants some of those "reserved" (already taken for cases not yet approved) visas to be available again but nobody thinks what this will do to us in the long run because some might read the news and conclude that USCIS just gives green cards to people that might be a threat.
As for my angle on this, I did not file yet so I have no case pending waiting to be approved....

No this does not apply to 485. It affects only immigrant 140 petition for alien worker.
AILA (http://www.aila.org/) has an analysis of the immigration bill in an article "Top 5 Concerns Regarding Employment-Based Immigration in S. 1348":
there is a disturbing section in there:
Gaps in Green Card Availability � Immigrant visa petitions filed after May 15, 2007 on the basis of the current employment-based preference system will be rejected. � During the period between May 15, 2007 and the date the new merit based system is up and running (likely October 1, 2008), no new employment-based green card applications can be filed.
Any validity to this claim ?
If so, Does this mean that all I-485 that can be filled with the latest jump in priority date will be voided ?

My application was sent on June, 14th and delivered on June 15th (I have the FedEx tracking info and signature page confirming 6/15).
The case status online based on receipt number (obtained by calling them a few times until I got lucky) says:
"On July 11, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case."
Not sure if the online status is referring to the receipt date or the notice date when it says "On July 11, 2007, we received" when, in fact, they received it on June 15th!!

Loosing my investments
Since I am sure that my GC will take 5 to 10 years more. Meanwhile too many things will change that might make me go back home. So I decided to invest in home(India). I sold lot of stocks. Stopped contributing to 401K above employers match (I used to contribute full 15K). Deferred buying house until my 140 approved.
I am at a life stage where I have enough experience and tendency to take risks (married but no kids etc...). If I have flexibility of not working, I want to invest my time in a small startup. Working/investing a start-up means I might go out of status anytime. So I decided not to try any of those. Its a loss for me as well as for economy. If I accumulate enough money I might go home and try to do something like startup or small business. It would be good for US and me if they let me do it here.
In essence I am loosing the oppurtunity and by restricting my career US is loosing an oppurtunity to create more jobs.
Why is loosing such a loosely used word?. Guys, it is losing not loosing. Lose and loose have different meanings.

I am seeing a lot of folks predicting the EB2 dates. And I believe they are right in doing so since that is their filign category. What I am asking is if there are any prediction regarding EB3-I. The dates are not moving at all which is absolutely frustating.
